Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP ~ formerly MSRP) is a Tuition Free Preschool that prepares children for kindergarten.  Eligible students are children of Royal Oak who attain age four by December 1st of the current school year.

It is funded by a grant from the Michigan Board of Education.  The State has identified 8 factors that may effect your child's education at any time in their Kindergarten through 12th Grade school career.  Your child has to meet two factors to be eligible for the program:

1.  More than 50% of the children must be low income according to Michigan Food Program guidelines.

       2.  The information gathered about your family and your child is held in strict confidence.

We explore pre-reading, math and science skills, use language for a variety of purposes, including music and movement, investigate problem solving and developing pro-social skills.  We exercise large and small motor abilities.

A variety of themes are studied throughout the year.  Some examples include:  self-awareness, fall, plants, animals, the farm, insects, fairy tales, nursery rhymes, games, and musical instruments.

The program meets in half-day sessions, Monday through Thursday, from September to May.  Session times are listed below:

A.M. Session

8:55 a.m. to 11:55 a.m.

P.M. Session

12:55 Noon to 3:55 p.m.
