Michigan Merit Exam
It is important that you are aware of ROHS class schedule changes that will occur March 11, 12, 13, and 14 during the Michigan Merit Exam administration.
Michigan's Education Yes! Program and the Federal No Child Left Behind Act mandate that all our students be tested each year. The dates are mandated by the Michigan Department of Education and ACT, and it is very important that your student be in attendance on these testing dates. The class schedule for these dates will be altered for all students in the school.
Attendance on test days is vital for your child to have the best opportunity to be successful on the Michigan Merit Exam which will qualify him/her for the $4,000 Michigan Promise Scholarship. Students will receive an ACT score that can be reported to colleges when they apply. Also, the test results are used as 67 percent of our school accreditation and are one of the standards colleges use to judge our schools. We believe it is important that you, along with the Royal Oak High School staff encourage your child to put forth his/her best effort on these tests. Ensuring that your child is well rested and has a good breakfast on test days can help him/her perform to the best of his/her abilities.
In order to ensure the best testing conditions, the class schedule will be altered so that only the juniors and a small number of seniors who are testing will be in school during the testing hours. The testing schedule will be as follows:
