Royal Oak High School Custodian

Recognized by Oakland County School Boards

ROYAL OAK, MI. - The Oakland County School Boards Association (OCSBA) Betty Campion Distinguished Support Service Award is given out annually to support personnel for their valuable contributions to their district. This year, Randy Bockmiller, Head Custodian, Royal Oak High School, is one of three winners of this award.

"Mr. Bockmiller not only touches the lives of everyone he works with, but he reaches far beyond the boundaries of his building. He reassures the community that every event is in good hands."

In his congratulatory letter to Mr. Bockmiller, Marc Katz, President of OCSBA said, "The recognition that was shared with us by so many of your colleagues was truly touching. You can be proud of your work and gratified by the respect and affection so many of your colleagues hold for you."

The other two winners are Rosalie Burnett, paraeducator, Bloomfield Hills School District and Don Spring, Head Custodian, Clarkston Community Schools.

Mr. Bockmiller will be presented with a plaque and a check for $250 at the June 18 OCSBA meeting. The annual Betty Campion Distinguished Support Service Award is presented to worthy district employees; support staff who provide quality service far beyond the call of duty.

This is the 18th year of the Distinguished Support Service Award program, created to recognize the valuable contributions that employees, other than teachers and administrators, make to Oakland County schools. Support staff were nominated in February, winners were selected by an OSCBA committee and the awards will be presented on June 18.

The award is named in honor of former Oakland Schools Board member Betty Campion who served on the Oakland Schools Board of Education from 1978 to 1992.
