BOARD OF EDUCATION

MAY 21, 2008 MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

1.         Public hearing of the 2008-2009 Budget. Adoption of the Budget will take place at the June 12 Board of Education Meeting.

2.         Adoption of 2008-2009 Millage Rates:

  • Homestead - 2.6995 mills
  • Non-Homestead - 18,0000 mills
  • Commercial Personal Property - 8.6995 mills
  • Debt Retirement - 4.7100 mills

3.         June 12 Board of Education Meeting will be held at Churchill Community Education Center, 707 Girard Avenue.          

4.         In September 2008, Royal Oak High School report card marking periods will change from six six-week marking periods to four nine-week marking periods with progress reports for every student at four weeks.

5.         Announcement of the 9th grade Communities of Reading Program - Mississippi Trial 1955 by Chris Crowe, a historical fiction about the murder of Emmett Till in the Mississippi Delta.

6.         Presentation and approval of the 4th and 5th grade health curriculum maturation program. Parents who are interested in viewing the program may contact Myrna Dugan at the Board Office (248) 435-8400.

7.         Announcement of Administrative Assignments for the 2008-2009 School Year (see listing below).        

8.         District committee applications (Building & Site, Communications, Curriculum, Finance, Murals Restoration and Wellness) are available at the Board Office, 1123 Lexington Blvd. or on the District website.

  • Thursday, May 22 - Churchill Community High School and Adult Education Graduation, Royal Oak High School Auditorium, 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, May 30 - International Academy Graduation, Lake Orion High School, 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 31 - Royal Oak High School Graduation, Freedom Hill, 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, June 6 - Jazz on the Patio, Royal Oak Middle School, 6:30 p.m.
