BOARD OF EDUCATION
June 12, 2008 MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
1. Best of Royal Oak - Seven Royal Oak High School graduating seniors - Melanie Adams, Scott Burden, Anna Falcon, Laura Mason, Christopher Photiades, Emily Reed and Brett Ruby - were awarded $800 Donald M. Currie Scholarships.
2. Spirit of Royal Oak - Media Honor Roll awarded to Jen Kopsch of the Royal Oak Review.
3. June 26 Board of Education Meeting time changed to 6:00 p.m.
4. District Board of Education Committee applications (Building & Site, Communications, Curriculum, Finance, Murals Restoration, and Wellness) are available at the Board Office, 1123 Lexington, or on the District website, http://www.royaloakschools.com/. Deadline July 11 at 5:00 p.m.
5. ROHS Band & Orchestra Boosters in conjunction with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Exchange Program will be hosting two European bands this summer - Emij Big Band from Elbeuf, France and Stadisches Jegendblasorchester Wind Band from Senden, Germany. Anyone interested in hosting a member of one of the two groups, visit http://www.royaloakschools.com/ for hosting information and a host family interest form.
6. Recall of four teachers for 2008-2009.
7. Parent Internet Viewer (PIV) was reviewed. PIV is an on-line system teachers utilize for parent and student access to up-to-date grades and attendance.
8. Adoption of 2008-2009 Budget.
9. The community is invited to join the ROHS Weed & Feed Brigade which will meet every other Wednesday (June 18, July 2, 16, 30, and August 13) from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. to maintain the landscape.
10. Lexington Boulevard along the south side of ROHS will be under construction June 16 to August 18.
11. Upcoming Events:
- Monday, June 23 - Royal Oak Foundation Golf Outing, Red Run Country Club.
- Saturday, August 2 - Royal Oak Foundation Bulldog Classic Car Show, Royal Oak Middle School.
