ROHS Choirs
The Royal Oak High School (ROHS) Choirs, under the direction of Deborah Buffa, received high marks at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA) State Choral Festival held on April 28 and 29, 2009, held this year at Rochester High School in Rochester, Michigan.
ROHS's A Cappella Choir received the highest "Superior" rating and performed at the advanced level. "This is a first for Royal Oak High School," said Ms. Buffa. The Concert Choir received a rating of "Good" and performed at the primary level.
Choirs from around the state are invited to participate in the MSVMA State Choral Festival if they received a Division I rating at their District Choral Festival. The choirs perform for a panel of judges.
The Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA), founded in 1937, is a non-profit professional organization of vocal music educators whose purposes are improving, promoting, and assisting vocal music education in the middle, junior high, and senior high schools of the state through a program of clinics, festivals, workshops, contests, and conferences.
