REGULAR MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

 

1.         District received Automated External Defibrillator (AED) from Cintas Scholastic AED Program Grant.

2.         Curriculum/Instruction Update

            Report on American Reinvestment Recovery Act Title I and IDEA purchases, including Fast Forward licenses for all six elementary schools, Credit Recovery software for Royal Oak High School  and six technical, data and guided reading coach positions.

3.          Economic/Budget/Audit Update

  • Summer Athletic Camp Programs - July reservations available.
  • PaySchools, web-based payment program, to be instituted for online payment of food service fees, pay to participate, etc.
  • Adoption of year end budget amendments including reduced fund equity in the general fund to truly reflect the financial condition of the district.

4.        Spirit of Royal Oak - Laurie Eisenhardt and Diana Barrer for their work in preserving Flint Faience tile fireplace which was removed from Longfellow Elementary School and placed in Addams Elementary School.

5.        High School Transportation Plan with shuttle service from Farmers Market, Helen Keller Elementary School and Northwood Shopping Center.

6.        High School and Early Childhood Special Education Time Changes

  • High School start time moves from 7:25 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and dismissal from 2:22 p.m. to 2:57 p.m.
  • Early Childhood Special Education Program AM start time changes from 8:30 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. and dismissal from 11:00 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. PM session start time moves from 12:00 Noon to 12:25 p.m. and dismissal from 2:30 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.

7.        Personnel/Instruction/Business

  • Recall of two teachers for a total of six for 2009-10.
  • Contract approval for Superintendent Thomas Moline for 2009-10 and two-year contract approval for John Schwartz, Executive Director, Business and Personnel Services, and Cheryl Goodgine, Executive Director, Administrative Services, with a wage freeze for 2009-10.
  • David Pontzious approved as Principal of Oakland Elementary School.
