Welcome
The Board of Education hopes you find the meetings informative. By attending, viewing on WOAK, or reading the minutes posted on our website, you will better understand how your school board operates.
Your School Board
The Royal Oak School Board has a seven-member board of directors. The school board represents the people of the district as the legal body that establishes educational polices and sets goals and objectives for the district. The superintendent and staff under the board’s direction carry out these policies and goals.
Terms are for four years and overlap to ensure continuity of board leadership. School board members receive no pay for their public service. The school board is accountable to you, the Royal Oak community, and to the state and federal government.
More information can be found at the following links:
The Superintendent

It is his responsibility to advise board members on all matters, to execute policies and decisions made by the board, and to operate the district so that all students receive and excellent education.
Board Meetings
Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month in the boardroom. Royal Oak Schools Central Administrative Offices are located at, 1123 Lexington Boulevard, Royal Oak, MI. Board meetings regularly begin at 7:00 p.m. See: Board Meetings Calendar for specific dates and times.
Regular meetings are open to the public. Copies of the agenda are available at the door and online. All board meetings must comply with the Open Meetings Act.
Questions or Concerns
Citizens are encouraged to communicate with Royal Oak School educators and school board members. If you have a concern, the best place to begin is with those directly involved and responsible, usually at the specific school: the particular teacher and/or principal. It is there that most problems can be quickly and productively resolved. If questions remain, please contact the superintendent.
We welcome your ideas, questions or suggestions. With your help, we can achieve our goal of continued excellence in education.
