APRIL 24, 2008 MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
1. Best of Royal Oak - In the Michigan Skills USA Graphic Communications contest, Royal Oak High School sophomore John Litwinowicz took 1st place honors and senior Josh Bunker placed 6th
2. Pride of Royal Oak - Randy Bockmiller, Royal Oak High School Head Custodian, received the Oakland County School Boards Association Distinguished Support Services Award
3. Beverly Gay-Photiades established a $2,000 scholarship in honor of her parents,Robert and Leona Gay, for Royal Oak Model United Nations students to participate in Model UN conferences
4. Six Royal Oak schools have been designated Green Schools by the State of Michigan - Royal Oak High School, Addams, Keller, Northwood, Oak Ridge and Upton Elementary Schools
5. Approved start and stop times of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Addams Elementary School K-5 for the 2008-2009 school year
6. Approved a resolution opposing cuts to 20j or any other categorical funding and supporting a School Funding and Reform Study to be conducted by the State
7. Royal Oak High School student James Sparks received the Royal Oak Kiwanis scholarship to the Law Enforcement Academy in Lansing
8. The Board moved to execute a contract with Michelle Kerns as Owners Representative for the 2005 Bond Program.
