The
mission of Royal Oak High School is
to challenge our students to become productive, life-long learners
in a diverse, technological, ever-changing world.
While Royal Oak High School has
been fully accredited by the North Central Association, the
staff is continually striving to find ways to better serve its
students. As we continue our pursuit of excellence, we welcome
input from students, parents, citizens and staff. We have embarked
on the first phase of NCA’s Transitions Endorsement Cycle that
includes developing an Education Development Plan (EDP) for
each student and to credential students in various academic
areas. Twelve teachers have now implemented the Ninth Grade
Academy as part of this process.
ROHS offers a comprehensive curriculum
for grades 9-12 in the areas of general education, special education,
college preparation, vocational education and post-secondary
preparation. ROHS has active members on the District’s K-12
Curriculum Committee in each discipline. Curriculum assessments
are consistent with the rigorous nature of the Model Core Curriculum,
developed by the State of Michigan, and the format of the MEAP.
ROHS is proud to offer various
interscholastic boys’ and girls’ sports as well as a variety
of clubs. These include but are not limited to: Business Professionals
of America, Campus Life, Computer, Dance, Drama, National Honor
Society, Quiz Bowl, Skating, Students Against Drunk Driving,
Students for Environmental Awareness, Tutoring and Young Directors.
In
our new high school we will have opportunities for all students
to participate.
