ROHS No Place For Hate

No Place for Hate is a model for reducing intolerance, bullying and name- calling while creating a more inclusive learning environment.  No Place for Hate provides a unique opportunity to incorporate new and existing programs with one consistent message which connects our school to a larger initiative taking place in Metro Detroit and in other cities across the nation.  The schools that benefit most from this program make it visible and incorporate its message of respect into daily school life.   Royal Oak High School has established a club comprised of representatives of faculty, administrators, parents and students.  This committee provides a useful foundation for developing the infrastructure that is equipped to handle community concerns and is the conduit to the ADL (Anti-Defamation League).

Students and staff members had the opportunity to sign a Resolution of Respect affirming their commitment to respecting diversity.   During the 2010-2011 school year, Royal Oak High School Students and staff participated in a variety of activities that celebrated diversity and/or addressed bias.  Royal Oak High School and the Anti-Defamation League recognizes and  understands that the differences within the school and community can pave the way to reversing and preventing hatred and prejudice as well as improving the school climate.

The ADL has officially recognized Royal Oak High School as being a No Place for Hate School.  Throughout this school year we have met all the criteria and activities that were required to achieve this recognition.  We are extremely excited about promoting our school as a No Place for Hate Zone.
