7th Grade Math consists of study in:

• Number Theory
  • Focusing on Integer Relationships, Ratios and Proportions and Exponents.
• Algebra
  • Focusing on Evaluating Numerical and Algebraic Expressions, Solving Equations, Graphing Linear Equations.
• Geometry
  • Focusing on Similar and Congruent Figures and Constructions of Geometric Figures
• Data Analysis
  • Focusing on Frequency--Relative and Cumulative, Histograms, Box-and-Whisker Plots, Stem-and-Leaf Plots and Scatterplots

I am available to help students:

• Before school beginning at 7:30 am. Students need to make arrangements with me to get a pass or they need to have a pass signed by their parents in their planner to come upstairs before 8:00 am.
• After school most days I am available until 3:45 pm. Please check with me to make sure I am staying after school.
• If students can't come in before or after school for assistance, they should come and see me during advisory.

• Students should expect an assignment everyday. It most likely will be due the next class period. Depending on the assignment it will either be a scaled score or an effort grade.
  • Scaled Score-Students will earn 5, 4, 3, or 1 points depending on the total problems they got correct. Students that earn a score of 1 point may redo to earn 3 points, they must complete all the problems they got incorrect and get enough correct to have earned the 3 points originally.
  • Effort Grade--Students will earn 3, 2, or 1 pointson their assignment. It will be corrected but I will determine if the amount of effort the student put into the assignment.
  • Late asssignments will have points deducted. Scaled score assignmnts will earn a maximum of 3 points and effort grade assignments will earn a maximum of 2 points.
• Students should have a colored pen or marker with them each day to check papers.
• All Late and Redone work should be labeled as such and turned into the metal tray on my desk.

• Students should expect a quiz about every 2 weeks. They will normally range in value or 10 to 20 points.
• Students may retake any quiz. It is recommended that students retake any quiz they earn 70% or less on. Students must review the quiz to determine their mistakes. Students may do this with me before or after school the day following the returning of their quiz or they may complete the review at home with an adult. If the review is done at home their must have their quiz signed before retaking the quiz.
• Students may retake quizzes either before school, after school or during advisory.

It is recommended that students spend 30 minutes per evening on Math work. They should finish their assignments, review their notes, clean out their folder and practice their basic facts. A good website to find basic fact practice is www.math-drills.com.
