Reporting Student Absences
If your child will be absent, please follow the procedure below:
- Call the school Safety Check number (248-549-4968 - option 1). Call anytime - it is a 24-hour line. After the beep, please give the following information:
* The first and last name of your child
* The name of your child's teacher
* The nature of the absence (illness or other reason)
Attendance
The Royal Oak School District, Oakland County and the State of Michigan consider good attendance important to academic success. Children are expected to arrive at school on time. Developing positive attendance patterns in the elementary grades establishes a foundation for good life habits. Also, when students arrive late or leave early, their education and that of their classmates is disrupted.
In those instance when your child arrives late or must leave early, parents must sign the office log with the child's name and reason for tardiness or early release.

Lunch Information
Lunch is from 12:06 p.m. - 12:54 p.m.
Preordered Hot Lunches are available for $2.25 (subject to change). Free and reduced price lunches are available to families who apply and qualify. Applications are available in the Main Office.
Students may purchase a lunch or bring their lunch from home. Milk (40 cents) and a la carte items may be purchased. Lunch orders are taken the day prior to purchase and must be paid for at that time.
Latchkey Information
Latchkey is provide for Upton through the Young Oaks program. Please call the Addams Early Childhood Center (Latchkey Director) at 248-288-4047 for program information.
